Author Guidelines

Preparation and Submission of Manuscript: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ANIMAL, VETERINARY, FISHERY AND ALLIED SCIENCES (IJAVFAAS) has a web-based system for the submission of manuscripts. Please read the Manuscript Submission Guidelines below, and then simply visit the journal’s site to login and submit your article online. All articles should be submitted via the online system.

All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, single-spaced, with margins of at least 1.5 cm on all sides. The manuscript should be prepared on A4 size. Page numbers should be given accordingly, beginning with the title page. The manuscript should be prepared in MS Word in

Times New Roman font using a font size of 14, bold face capitals for Title. However, all Headings in the manuscript should be in font size 12, bold face capitals; and the Sub-heading in each section should be in font size 12, bold face lower case. The language of manuscript must be simple and explicit. Standard International Units should be used. If the generic names of plants or animals are written, they must be italic. Footnotes should be avoided as far as possible. Essential footnotes may, however, be indicated by super scribed asterisk mark (*). The number of structural formulae should be restricted to the bare minimum. Wherever the purpose is adequately served by giving chemical or common names, these should be given. For enzymes, only the trivial names recommended by the IUPAC-IUB Commission should be used. In some cases, where the enzyme is the main subject of an article, its code number and systematic name should also be stated at its first citation in the article. Standard International practices for abbreviations should be used in the text and illustrations. Use scientific/technical terms but a more general term may be used if a suitable scientific/technical term is not available.

IJAVFAAS considers all manuscripts on the strict condition that they have been submitted only to IJAVFAAS, that they have not been published already (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture or academic thesis), nor are they under consideration for publication or in press elsewhere.

To expedite the review process, all manuscripts submitted to IJAVFAAS must be prepared according to the following format:

Language: Articles are accepted in English language only.

Word Length: Articles should be between 3,000 and 8,000 words.

Cover Page: This contains the title of the manuscript (50 words maximum). The names of all authors and their corresponding affiliations as well as complete mailing address, telephone/mobile/fax number and E-mail should also be mentioned. The designated corresponding author must be identified by an asterisk.

Title Page: The second page consists of the manuscript title, abstract (maximum of 250 words that reflects an abbreviated representation of the content of the manuscript including purpose, method, main results, conclusions, and/or recommendations) and keywords.

The abstract should not contain abbreviations, diagrams and reference to the text. To facilitate the double-blind review process, no material that identifies the author(s) should be placed on this page. To identify the most important subjects covered by the article, 4-8 keywords should be provided. The words found in title need not be given as keywords.

Text: For full length research paper, text should consist of Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion (or results and discussion may be combined in the Heading- Results and

Discussion), Acknowledgements (may or may not be given) and References.  The text of review article should consist of Introduction, other relevant Heading and Sub-heading(s), and References. Text citations should adhere to following examples: (Pandey, 2014) or (Madhuri et al., 2014; Pandey, 2014a & 2014b; Pandey et al., 2012). Abbreviations should be fully spelled out in parentheses the first time that they are used in the text.

References: Only works actually cited in the text should be included in the references as per the following examples. References list should be alphabetized in the last names of the first author of each paper/article.

Experiments on Animals/Humans: IJAVFAAS insists on ethical practices in both human and animal experiments. A statement on ethics committee permission and ethical practices must be given under the Materials and Methods section in the original research paper involving experiments on humans or animals. Evidence for approval by a local Ethics Committee must be supplied by the authors on demand. Animal experimental procedures should be as humane as possible. The ethical standards of experiments on animals must be in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA) constituted by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, or approved by an Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) as per the guidelines of CPCSEA. However, the experiments on human subjects are to be done in accordance with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) protocol, or approved by an Institutional Human Ethics Committee (IHEC).
